I've been researching Rev. Charles Garlock and his kin for some time now. Maranda Garlock's youngest son Edson Jason Garlock was Charles' little brother and I haven't had much to report on Edson. So I thought I would see what I could find.
The piece below was finished last week and I printed a few copies and mailed them to some non-internet people (my mom and her two sisters). Anyway, I had no sooner mailed the copies than I got updated information on Edson. Thats's how it goes, there is always something new to learn.
This post came from a granddaughter of Nellie Mae (Garlock) Hitt.
"Also- Mark- you probably did not know this but Clarence Hitt built the house that he and Nellie lived in with their 4 children - it is still standing at 219 West 27th st in South Sioux City. Others who lived at gram’s for a time were Betty and Evelyn, daughters of Luella - who lived there a while when Luella divorced her first husband. Uncle Edson lived in the loft of the barn( since torn down) for some years. Douglas Hitt and his mom, Harriet Hitt lived there a couple of years while Delbert was away in WWII.
Our family lived less than 2 blocks away and so we spent a lot of time at Gram’s and Grandpa’s house."
So Edson lived in the loft above the barn for a while. It's little details like this that make the family stories so interesting.
Anyway, here's "Let's Not Forget Edson"
Oh, and if you are interested, here is the cookbook from Dr. Koch Vegetable Tea Company of Winona, Minnesota.
